Hello, my name is Amy Wurdock...
…and I am obsessed with photography as a means of telling stories.
When I became a parent, I dove head-first into photography. My enthusiasm for telling the story of our family turned into a real love for photography as an art form.
After a while people started asking me to tell their family's stories and the world fell into place around me.
When I’m working with you, I’m in my element, doing my dream job. I love taking photos of people and catching those split seconds of joy, preserving something authentic and ephemeral. Whether candid or posed, I want you to look at your portrait later and think, "that was fun" (instead of "I’m glad we made it out alive") as I firmly believe that posed photography doesn’t require abject misery.
I love working with families and individuals to keep my sessions enjoyable, mercifully brief, and to make sure everyone’s looking at the camera at the same time. With candid photos, I’m hunting for the “perfection of imperfection,” natural moments where your happiness comes out, even if that means we forego classic portraiture. If I’m doing my job, you’ll forget I’m there.
At the end of the day, I want you to be as you as you can be (A throwback to the Seventies? Maybe, but you’ll like your photos).
I'm also an award winning photographer.
I'm a proud member of the Twin Cities Professional Photographer's Association and Professional Photographers of America and am committed to delivering high quality professional services with integrity.
As a part of the Twin Cities Professional Photographer's Association I won multiple awards:
2015 Photographer of the Year
2015 Top First Time Entry
2015 Top Wedding Print
My Studio is in beautiful St Paul.
I am so lucky to be a small business owner in Minnesota, and even luckier to have a studio in a building surrounded by other artists. My 1200sf studio has a private dressing room, comfortable client seating and viewing area, and a large light-filled shooting bay. The building boasts dozens of beautiful backgrounds both inside and outside that are perfect for family, senior, or personal branding sessions.
If you are stopping by my studio you may want to take time and check out some of the other amazing small businesses in the building like Can Can Wonderland or grab a beer at Black Stack Brewery. If you are really feeling adventurous you can practice your ax throwing at Flannel Jax’s.
I am committed to empowering other small independent local businesses and strive to use locally-sourced props and vendors whenever possible. Supporting locally owned businesses build strong communities by sustaining vibrant town centers, linking neighbors in a web of economic and social relationships. If you have a crazy idea (the crazier the better) and would like to partner on a project I want to hear from you!
